Portuguese graffiti
Art in public spaces
Presenting some inspiration from my travels. I’m fascinated by graffiti. And not by those awful scribbles on walls and bathroom stalls, not even by ordinary (and usually not visually valuable) tags.
I sometimes meet artistic graffiti. These are full-fledged works of art. Sometimes grandiose, at times just jests or beautifull add-ons to public spaces.
I am fascinated when I come across a wall that is obviously an open street canvas. There’s graffiti overlapping and layering in different ways. The combinations are interesting and there is usually a certain “respect” there. It’s not painted over everywhere, but rather gradually when older pieces fade away. Sometimes they build on each other thematically. I’m not a specialist on this subject. I just enjoy it and take pictures. It’s an inspiration and a pleasure for me. Here I offer you some photos from Portugal, collected in various places (Faro, Olhao, Lisbon…).
